Lewes Yacht Club

Lewes Yacht Club is on the beach  so everyday is a day at the beach!    A modest parking lot is available for parking of vehicles and travel trailers, and street parking is also available for cars, but trailer parking on the street in Lewes is prohibited.  Lewes YC personnel tractor most trailers out onto the beach for unloading, which is a great place for rigging and launching.  Travel trailers may remain on the beach during racing events.  Coach boats can be launched right across the street at LYC’s launch ramp. Coach boat trailers may be parked in a designated area on LYC’s property.  Being on the ocean, once coach boats are launched and go out the inlet into the ocean, there’s no piers or docks for tying up. Sailors launch their boats from dollies into the surf which can vary, depending on the tide, from no waves to 1-2 foot waves which are easy to get through with assistance from parents.  Its an awesome place to sail, spectate, and enjoy the beach. After racing, boats are de-rigged and put back onto travel trailers, which are then pulled by tractor off the beach, back to roadway areas.

Racing is typically held in areas directly out from the beach, so its easy for spectators to watch the action.  Lewes YC offers food and bar services during events, and inside and outside areas to eat.  Theres also a pool for guests to enjoy.  WIFI is available inside the clubhouse.  Its only a short drive to gas stations, drug stores or hardware stores if needed. Also much can be enjoyed in the local area after the sailing day. 2nd Street in Lewes has shops, bars & restaurants. Cape Henlopen State Park is a natural beauty with miles of coastline. The Outlets can be enjoyed with tax-free shopping and the Town of Rehoboth can be very entertaining.
